Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has a press conference the other day where she was asked what she thought of the protests going around the country. Now keep in mind these protests are about the government infringing on everyday life of everyday citizens.
When Pelosi was asked what she thought, she brought up the anti gay protests of the 1970’s in San Fransisco, which incited some violence. As she was talking about the protests she began to choke up a little, almost coming to tears.
Here is the video:
Now typically seeing anyone cry would make most soften up a little. But I have to take this episode with a grain of salt. She calls for civility in the protesters (which have not been violent in the least bit) and asks them to cool the rhetoric down.
Well, since 2006 the democrats have been completely ok with their constituents calling George Bush a Nazi, calling for impeachment, calling him a liar, calling him a fraud, calling him a torturer, calling him a drunk, calling him mentally handicapped, etc….
Where was Pelosi when all this was going on? Where was she when the people were getting angry with Bush?
To me the answer is simple, the momentum of hating Bush was helping the democrat’s careers, and her’s particularly.
Now the momentum is against her and the democrats, and it feels “wrong” to her. To someone who is used to playing the game of politics to gain power, this should feel wrong, because our system of governance is not set up to make any person all that powerful. We have a government that is set up for Statesman not Statists.
Stay Strong!
