Ok Its Getting Weird Around Here

Sep 2nd, 2009 by Keith

When I think of America, I think of big cities, beautiful country sides, patriotism, the flag, the best athletes in the world, greatest military, apple pie and soul food. But things aren’t looking so American to me right about now.

If you didn’t know, We are in the Islamic holy month Ramadan. The President held a ceremony to promote this holy month and called Islam a “great religion”.

Look, I am not anti-Islam what so ever. But there is something here that needs to be said. We are at war with Islamic extremists right now, and this does not send a clear message to our enemies. They are at war with us because we a Christian nation, and we are at war with them because they attacked us. You see, to praise what these people find as the root reason to hate us, you are then in return positively re enforcing what they find as the right thing to do (hate us because we ARE a Christian nation).

The President likes to pretend that we are not a Christian nation when in fact we are. The percentage of Americans who identify themselves as Christian as of 2001 is 77%. Here are the stats to prove that, This excludes all those who believe in God and have no religious affiliation, so in return the amount of believers in America can be upwards of 81%+.

The exact amount of self identified Muslims in America as of 2001 was 0.5% of our population. I will give the benefit of the doubt that there could be a plausible 2% but all in all we we are a Christian nation. This is an un disputable fact.

So why would the President go out of his way to please such a small percentage of Americans? Why would he go out of his way to please a large amount of our enemies?

Why didn’t the President go out of his way to recognize the beginning of the Ecclesiastical Year (Sept. 1)? This would embolden those here in America and raise moral among our own people. This would raise awareness about Christianity, a religion that the President “practices”.

Try Disputing This

Try Disputing This

This is what separates Liberal Progressives from Conservatives. Liberals are about appeasement of our foes, and Conservatives are about appeasement of our own people. Conservatives cater to their own and make sure Americans are happy FIRST. This is important when our country is going through some rough times (i.e. war, recession, political unrest).

Hopefully these things will become more evident to our President in the near future, because Americans are lacking a leader who loves this country the same way they do, and if not, it isn’t evident.

Thanks!

-Keith

First, while there is still a great majority of Christians in the nation, we are not a Christian nation. I’m not saying we are godless by any means. However, the separation between church and state means that law is not determined by our religious beliefs.

Also, I think you need to remember that there are extremists on all sides, even in Christianity. Just because there are bad apples, doesn’t mean you can’t reach out to the sensible believers. What Obama is doing is creating a sense of respect between our “Christian nation” and Muslims. Ignoring only breeds more discord. Remember, Love thy neighbor as thyself. You are talking about “me, me, me” which is exactly the opposite of what you should be preaching.

Orlando you obviously did not really pay attention in history class. Our founding fathers were Christians who were persecuted in England. The founding documents of this country were written based on Christian beliefs. The separation of church and state was put in there so that the church did not run the country, as it did in England. (We could elect our own leaders, interpret the Bible and its laws on our own, decide our own brand of Christian…)It does not mean that the laws are not based on religious beliefs. Example the Ten Commandments condemn murder, and burglary. They also say to treat they neighbor as thyself, you can say this would pertain to modern day assault/battery/domestic cases/child related crimes/libel civil cases and the list could go on. Most law makers, whether or not they realize it, write laws based on their religious and personal beliefs. It’s human to want laws protect your personal interests. I do not believe we should be honoring a religious holiday that is a holiday for jihad by extreme Muslims. Remember right now they aren’t just attacking us, they are hurting non-violent Muslims. Their own people.

First off, starting off with an insult in a debate is never a good way to start off. I did pay attention in history class, and I still read many historical non-fiction books.

Our founding fathers were men of the Enlightenment period, many of them were Deists who did not believe in Christianity.

In a treaty with Tripoli signed by both President George Washington and Vice President John Adams, said that the United States was “in no sense founded on the Christian religion”.

I am in no way saying it bad to have a moral compass dictated by a religion. I am a Christian man, and I believe in showing everyone the best side of faith. Being kind and just will get you a lot further in this world that dividing the world into pieces.

In no way were we founded as a Christian nation, there was Christian men in the framers, but they set our Constitution as a foundation of a government with free thought.

One other thought, when I say treat thy neighbor as thyself. I mean you need to treat all people will respect and decency
,even if they have wronged you. This does not rule out punishment, but it does rule out inhumane punishment. What has the Muslim religion done against you? Nothing. Sure some extremists have done some horrible things, but they are the minority. Don’t let the actions of a few make you fear the actions of many.

in all due respect i believe the treaty you are talking about said that America is not a Christian nation, meaning there is no national religion. But in fact we are and always have been a nation of Christians, meaning that we are the majority. So, take it as you want, but John Adams didn’t want the Barbary wars to be a religious war so he was going to be the bigger man against an Islamic nation…but what do I know

im sorry orlando, but didn’t you just say “there was christian men in the framers” of the constitution? and im not trying to insult you, however, if you could just point out to me in what place the “separation of church and state” is located in the constution? because it most certainly is not, but instead located in a letter written by Jefferson if im not mistaken, NOT A LAW OR EVEN AN AMENDMENT and can you also point out a single scenario when our terrorist muslim freinds have been interested in “talking” with us? i can tell you right now that muslim children are being indoctrinated to kill americans, which means you, ESPECIALLY if you are a christian
