Obama Talks To Michael Smerconish

Thursday August 20th, 2009, President Obama had an on air interview from the White House with conservative talk show host Michael Smerconish. The President went on air with the same message of the public option for health care reform. Majority of the conversation involved the President telling listeners that whatever they ask has been considered, but the public option is the best solution.

“Our position hasn’t changed,” he [Obama] said. “We think the key is cost control, competition, making sure people have good quality options. If we achieve that, that’s the end we’re seeking and the means, we can have some good arguments about what the best way to achieve that. But we got to change because the status quo is unsustainable.”

Playing on the hearts of the un insured, Obama is trying to pass this government overhaul as quick as possible.

Other topics discussed included the war on terror and dealing with Al Queda. The President seems to agree with President Bush that eliminating Al Queda and the Taliban are a priority of our national security.
